Repeat Prescriptions
Framlingham is a dispensing practice. Patients who live more than one mile from a pharmacy may receive their prescribed drugs from our dispensary.
Repeat prescriptions can be requested on-line using the NHS App, SystmOne, or by submitting the ‘repeats request sheet’ to dispensary. Telephone requests are NOT accepted.
Using the NHS App is the easiest and most efficient way for our dispensary to process your requests.
We now offer a 'Managed Repeat' service, which means you can leave your repeat request with us and your prescriptions will automatically be processed and ready for the next month. Please speak to the dispensary team if you would like this set up for you.
To make on-line prescription requests using SystmOne, you will need to register for the service. Please see reception for your log in and password.
Dispensary is open during the surgery working hours for collections but closed between 1pm-2pm. If you wish to speak to someone in dispensary our telephone lines are open between 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm.
PLEASE ALLOW 5 WORKING DAYS FOR YOUR PRESCRIPTION TO BE PROCESSED.
All requests should be collected from the dispensary.
These times may change in busy periods and bank holidays.
Prescription Alignment
Alignment
An alignment of medication means all regular medication will be organised to run out at the same time. You will then only have to complete one repeat prescription order.
How will it work?
Submit the online alignment form when you order your next prescription, by clicking the link below.
Count all the medication you have and record each medication and quantity on the alignment form.
You will be given enough of each medication on your next prescription to coincide with the medication you have the most of, so everything will run out together.
Are there medicines that cannot be aligned?
Some medications are not suitable for alignment, these includes any medication that is not on your repeat template, or medication which is taken when needed/required or variable dosing:
e.g.
- Painkillers
- Inhalers
- Creams
- Diabetic products
- Appliances/wound products
- Warfarin
What happens next?
All your medications should now run out at the same time; when you place your next request, you will be able to order everything in one go.
If you have any questions or require further information please contact the dispensary. Dispensary phone lines are open between 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication may be asked to see or speak to a doctor, pharmacist or practice nurse to review regular medications.
Some medication requires monitoring and it may be unsafe to continue a repeat medication if you do not attend when requested.
Medication Available from the Chemist.
This is sometimes called ‘over the counter medication’
NHS England have published the following advice;
Medications that can be purchased over the counter from a pharmacy and other outlets such as supermarkets should be purchased. This includes patients who are normally exempt or have a prepayment certificate.
You should seek advice from a chemist for self-limiting conditions or conditions that can be managed by self-care, i.e. that the person suffering does not normally need to seek medical care but may decide to seek help with symptom relief from a local pharmacy and use an over the counter medicine.
